Training

At Frog Technical Diving we can offer training from Discover Tec diving through to Hypoxic Rebreather Training. Below is a selection of our most popular courses and prerequisites where relevant (or equivalents - not agency specific).

Discover Technical Diving

Curious about technical (tec) diving, but not sure about jumping into a course? This will allow you to give technical diving a try. You get to wear all the extra tec diving gear and take it for a test dive.

Prerequisites:

18 years old; and

a qualified diver.

Tek 40

The PADI Tec 40 course is where you transition from recreational scuba diving to technical diving. It’s a great place to start because it’s the first subdivision of the full PADI Tec Diver course and bridges the gap between no stop diving and full technical deep decompression diving. You gain experience and begin building the knowledge and skills you need to continue your tec diver training. You will qualify to make limited decompression dives to 40 metres.

Prerequisites:

18 years old;

AOW;

Nitrox diver (with experience);

Deep Diver;

30+ dives; and

A Dr sign off within 12 months

Prerequisites:

A Tec 40 diver;

Rescue Diver;

50+ dives;

12+ on nitrox at 18 m+; and

10+ of those at 30m+

Tek 45

The PADI Tec 45 course is the second part of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program. You’ll extend your depth limit to 45 metres and learn to plan and execute repetitive decompression dives using a single stage/decompression cylinder. It puts you in a complete tec diving rig, which can be either back mount or sidemount. You’ll also make accelerated decompression dives using EANx or pure oxygen. This is a course where you’ll rise to the challenge and make the commitment to become a technical diver.

Tek 50

The third part of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program is Tec 50. As a Tec 50 diver, you show that you’ve developed competency as a tec diver and have the skills to dive to a maximum of 50 metres. You know how to make extended, accelerated decompression stops using up to two gases. It’s not easy to reach this level and earning your Tec 50 certification opens the door to deeper diving expeditions.

Prerequisites:

A Tec 45 diver;

100+ dives;

20+ nitrox at 18m+ & 15+ at 30m+

Sidemount Diver

Prerequisites:

Qualified diver; and

aged 15+ years

Sidemount diving gives you flexibility and streamlining options. Plus, you don’t have to walk with heavy cylinders on your back – just enter the water, clip them on and go. You will learn how to properly assemble and configure sidemount equipment. Trim your weight system and sidemount gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water. Manage gas by switching second stages as planned. Respond correctly to potential problems when sidemount diving.

IANTD Rebreather Diver

The IANTD Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver program trains the diver in the theory and practical skills necessary to safely dive using a closed circuit rebreather in the Advanced Nitrox/Advanced Recreational Trimix depth range. You will learn how to strip down, prepare and check the rebreather and how to conduct pre dive safety procedures before each dive and then develop your skills from confined to open water using a closed circuit rebreather.

The program qualifies divers in the safe use of a closed circuit rebreather for dives to a maximum depth of 48 msw if using diluent with helium or 42 msw if using an air diluent with a maximum of 15 mins of decompression.

Prerequisites:

IANTD Advanced EANx; or Advanced Recreational Trimix (ART) Diver; and aged 18+ years.

Rebreather Try Dive

Interested in CCR Rebreather but don't know what all the fuss is about?

Or you just want to try the VMS Red Head Sentinel the world's most sophisticated and feature-packed exploration-grade closed circuit rebreather?

We can also provide you the opportunity to try the original (top spec) 'Black Head' Sentinel if this is what you are interested in.

A try dive session will take at least half a day and will include a full orientation to either (or both) models. You will then dive the unit under the expert guidance of our resident CCR instructor.
